<image:caption>Engorgement most often occurs: In the first few days postpartum as milk “comes in” When feedings are delayed or skipped If milk removal is less effective (poor latch, sleepy baby, separation) Breasts may feel firm, heavy, warm, or painful, and nipples can become flattened, making latching harder.</image:caption>

Reverse Pressure Softening (RPS) can help, especially in the early days when swelling is strongest: Uses gentle fingertip pressure around the nipple Temporarily moves fluid away from the areola Makes the breast softer and easier to latch Step-by-step guide is here and images are from WIC Arizona.</image:caption>

<image:caption>IBCLCs are the highest-trained lactation providers. IBCLCs are “ considered the gold standard in lactation care, the IBCLC certification requires extensive education, clinical training, and a board exam. IBCLCs are trained to handle complex breastfeeding challenges, including low milk supply, tongue ties, preemie feeding issues, and a lot more. This is the only lactation credential recognized by major healthcare institutions worldwide.” (Source: The Lactation Network). You can search for an IBCLC by zipcode at Zipmilk.org.</image:caption>

      <image:title>Blog - How to Bathe Your Baby</image:title>
<image:caption>⏰ PICK THE RIGHT TIME. Your baby should be content and well fed. For example, some families try their baby’s first bath at home about 30 minutes after a feed when baby is awake. If your baby’s not happy, wait to take a bath. GET SOME HELP AND MAKE IT SAFE. Have a helper (spouse, doula, family member) by your side. Test the water temperature with your elbow or wrist (not your hand/finger which can tolerate hotter temps). It should feel lukewarm. Keep a hand on your baby to avoid slipping. Keep a towel underneath to prevent slipping. You don’t need a lot of water. Use a small baby bath or the kitchen sink. Avoid fully immersing your baby in water if they are still healing from umbilical cord cutting or circumcision. Keep them warm by putting a wash cloth their tummy in the bath or keeping swaddled (see swaddle bathing below).</image:caption>
